A workshop on ‘architechting’ hosted and facilitated by shy*play. This gathering experiments with reshaping spatial conditions so that space does not dictate how relations unfold; instead, relations emerge through its collective making.

shy*play invites bodyminds who have had enough of, or cannot perform, centrality—the assumption of a “right” way of being and relating in social spaces that places certain performances at the centre and the human as the measure of all experience. We also extend an invitation to those who are curious about how sociality can unfold differently when spatiality is shaped by neuroqueer approaches and sensibilities.

The facilitation will emphasize difference—not only differences among bodies and their varying needs and desires for space-making, but also the potential for difference to be experienced in the relations between bodies. This will involve a synesthetic approach to the senses, forms of communication beyond speech, listening, more-than human attunements, haptic visuality and touch (primarily through fabrics). 

shy*play will facilitate the session, providing a framework through somatic practices for (re)orienting the senses, with an emphasis on expanding listening and (re)conditioning visuality, as well as on techniques that enable engagement with bodies, materials, and space-making through an invitational and playful approach.

Participants require no prior experience with movement and installation to participate. Drinks and snacks will be offered throughout.
